Position Description
The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the
University of Washington in Seattle is seeking applications for one
full-time (100% FTE) faculty position in the Breast Imaging Section
at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, without
tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, commensurate with experience in
clinical, research, and education domains. Experience appropriate
to appointment on the physician-scientist pathway is preferred. The
Breast Imaging Section is comprised of 10 clinical faculty, 1
research faculty, and 4 fellows. This position has an anticipated
start date of January 1, 2025. Assistant Professors WOT are
eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month
service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors WOT hold
indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period
(July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid
for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June),
meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time
off.
Responsibilities include clinical coverage of the breast imaging
service, instruction of medical students, diagnostic radiology
residents and breast imaging fellows, and pursuit of academic
scholarly interests. The breast imaging section provides clinical
coverage and teaching at our medical centers (UW Medical Center
Montlake Campus, UW Medical Center Northwest Campus, Harborview
Medical Center, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center). The successful
faculty candidate will be expected to perform clinical work in all
aspects of breast imaging at both the UW Medical Center Northwest
Campus and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center sites. Under the direction
of Dr. Janie Lee, the section is closely integrated with clinical
and research programs throughout the UW Medical Center and Fred
Hutchinson Cancer to provide the highest level of comprehensive
care for breast disease. All UW faculty engage in teaching,
research, and service. Scholarship contributions will vary
depending on whether the successful candidate elects the
physician-scientist or clinician-teacher pathway.
The base salary range for this position will be: $30,322 - $37,251
per month ($363,864 - $447,012 annually) commensurate with
experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department
of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of
base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan,
in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note
that only compensation provided by the University is included in
University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation
provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide
eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
This position is incentive eligible through the physicians practice
plan.
