new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning building. This
position will specifically work on our Long Term Civil Commitment
Unit, which is located on the fourth and fifth floors of the
facility.WORK SCHEDULE:40 hours per weekAssistant Nurse Managers
can work straight days or straight nightsThe anticipated work
schedule is two 12 hour shifts per week, one 8 hour shift per week,
and 8 hours of paid administrative time per weekThe anticipated
start date for this position is late May 2024. The Long Term Civil
Commitment Unit will open to patients in July 2024.POSITION
HIGHLIGHTSProvide a one-of-a-kind service for the behavioral health
populationBe part of a brand-new facility when it first opensAct as
a shift supervisor for a team of RNs and CNAsDEPARTMENT
DESCRIPTIONOur Long Term Civil Commitment Unit is designed to
support involuntary admits who require extended periods of care,
including those requiring multi-month stays. Our services will
include highly structured psychiatric care, services for patients
with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and programs that promote
independent functioning and transition to the community. The unit
will have 75 beds available for intake and will play a key role
providing person-centered care in a positive clinical environment.

Center for Behavioral Health and Learning, opening on the UW
Medical Center Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled
opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental
health care training in our state. Located in NW Seattle, the new
facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25
geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on
patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art
neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary
training and workforce development program focused on preparing and
supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for
Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place
to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept
spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining

RESPONSIBILITIESActs as a shift supervisor, responsible for
clinical functions, staffing assignments, and care coordinationActs
as the main onsite leadership when the Nurse Manager is not
presentCollaborates with Nurse Manager on day-to-day
operationsPerforms patient intakes, evaluations, and
assessmentsOversees patient placement and throughputPlans,
implements, and evaluates unit orientation for clinical staff (RNs
and CNAs)Plans and implements educational offerings to enhance the
delivery of careFosters clinical excellence and incorporates
clinical standards into daily practiceParticipates in
organizational committees, taskforces, and work groupsProvides
performance feedback to the Nurse Manager during annual performance
evaluationsProvides just in time feedback to staff regarding
clinical performance, interpersonal team interactions, and patient
communicationsResponds appropriately to emergency situations and
drillsPromotes practices and decisions that reduce human error and
promote patient safetyREQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS2 years of
current or recent nursing experience, including nursing experience
in behavioral healthPrevious charge or supervisory nursing
experienceActive BLSActive licensure to practice as a Registered
