Aspect Consulting, LLC (Aspect), an earth science and engineering consulting firm, is seeking an entry-level environmental engineer to join our growing Environmental Practice in our Seattle or Bellingham, Washington office.

Aspect's Environmental Practice tackles challenges on a variety of complex environmental projects all over the Northwest: environmental site assessments, remedial investigations/feasibility studies, property cleanup and urban redevelopments, remedial design engineering, cost recovery/allocation/mediation support, and landfill system monitoring and optimization (check out the Project Case Studies on our website). With the size and geographic reach of Aspect's Environmental Practice, you can expect an abundance of variety in your work, strong mentorship, and readily available avenues to expanded responsibility and career growth.

As a strong candidate, you exhibit characteristics that form the foundation of a successful environmental consultant and show potential for growth and career advancement. Some of these characteristics include an inquisitive and can-do mentality, proactiveness, self-motivation, an eye for detail, excellent organization skills, clear writing, and communication skills, and are able to pursue Professional Engineer licensure in Washington State.

As an entry-level engineer at Aspect, you will work outdoors in all weather conditions, and in rugged and sometimes remote field locations for extended periods of time. You also can expect to work directly with geologists, hydrogeologists, environmental engineers, and scientists to learn core skills and how to effectively apply environmental consulting strategies and solutions for our clients, who include attorneys, landowners, public agencies, engineers, and contractors.

Your initial primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Conduct field activities at contaminated sites: environmental drilling, soil logging and sampling, well installation and development, groundwater sampling and aquifer testing, excavation monitoring and construction oversight, environmental monitoring, and soil gas sampling.
  • Manage and oversee subcontractor(s) working on site.
  • Compile and analyze data: assemble field documentation, complete data entry of field measurements, manage environmental chemistry data, update and review operational data for remediation systems, and create graphical representations of water quality and subsurface conditions (e.g., geologic cross-sections, contamination maps).
  • Operations and maintenance of soil, groundwater, and landfill gas remediation systems.
  • Prepare field reports and write technical reports. Our Environmental Practice is supported by a diverse and talented group of engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, hydrogeologists, water resource engineers, CAD/GIS professionals, and technical editors who support each other across practices on multidisciplinary projects.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering (environmental, civil, or chemical)
    • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification (or eligible to complete upon hire)
    • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
    • Clear technical writing and communication skills Preferred Qualifications:
      • Master's degree in engineering
      • Relevant coursework in contaminant fate and transport
      • Knowledge of United Soil Classification System or USDA soil taxonomy
      • Experience with environmental sampling field methods such as monitoring well installation, construction, and development; low-flow groundwater sampling; soil gas and indoor air sampling; and aquifer testing Special Requirements:
        • Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions and in rugged and sometimes remote field locations for extended periods of time
        • Must be able to travel long distances and accommodate occasional overnight travel; travel is often in the greater Puget Sound area and central Washington
        • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate cars, vans, and pickup trucks in various weather conditions and after dark Workplace Setting:
