Description
The Director, Quality Assurance/Quality Control is responsible for
providing leadership, tactical direction and general management for
all quality professionals who will support execution of projects in
all divisions including, AST, National Construction and Turnaround
and Plant Services and AST Products. Reporting to the President,
the position is responsible for developing and implementing goals,
objectives and plans to drive the better outcomes in quality. The
Director QA/QC serves as executive on the leadership team, working
in conjunction with the division VP's and the functional
departments to implement processes and procedures to deliver
consistent and sustainable results.
Essential Functions:
Collaborate with President and SVP, Operations to establish goals,
objectives and strategies to maximize quality performance in
alignment with corporate standards.
Manage and oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) to drive
industry leading performance, client satisfaction and support a
zero-re-work culture
Provide leadership and expert advice to management on emerging
quality trends, best practices, as well as status of key
improvement initiatives.
Monitor and oversee procedures for process control, process
improvement, testing and inspection
Establish key metrics, monitor and analyze results on an ongoing
basis to ensure that performance standards are being achieved or
identify needs for corrective actions.
Report to operational management on quality issues, trends and
losses.
Serve as the primary quality control resource for problem
identification, resolution, reporting and improvement.
Champion continuous improvement efforts to reduce rework and
non-conformance reports.
Perform root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to
identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
Analyze customer specifications to confirm requirements and
compliance with our quality programs.
Monitor vendor performance and establish criteria and rating system
for critical vendors.
Attend major bid review meetings to confirm proper QA/QC costs and
support are included within the estimate
Review customer bid requests, purchase orders, contracts and change
requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are
included in quality and process plans.
Oversee calibration, certifications and testing programs.
Monitor and in some cases participate internal and external quality
audits.
Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives
concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective
corrective action is implemented.
Establish individual goals and objectives for direct reports in
support of the Company's strategic plans.
Identify and ensure the development of succession candidates for
key positions.
Provide regular feedback, including but not limited to, the annual
formal review process to ensure accountability and achievement of
individual objectives.
Regularly visit project sites to monitor job performance and assess
performance of project teams.
Collaborate with sister company QA/QC Directors to determine common
best practices
Actively support the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core

Represent the Company at all times with high moral standards while
adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and
Ethics."
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
10+ years related experience managing quality assurance/quality
control functions.
Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred.
Outstanding knowledge of QA/QC standards and practices in the
construction industry.
Demonstrated management skill and experience.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability and strong knowledge of training
techniques.
Previous experience in radiographic testing, magnetic particle
testing, and liquid penetrant testing desirable.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical information, such
as codes and specifications, drawings and reports, as well as
ability to prepare work plans for specific projects.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to work well and
communicate with internal and external individuals at all
levels.
Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft
Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and
Outlook.
Physical/Special Requirements:
Occasional overtime and frequent travel between field locations and
the shop may be required in this position. Work involves standing
and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are
performed from a seated position. Work may include occasional
pushing, pulling or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds, such
as files, documents and computer printouts. Work normally requires
finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate a computer
keyboard at moderate skill level.
