Job Description:
Facilities, Collections and Technology Manager, Science,
Mathematics and Technology Education (SMATE) This position is a
full time 11-month position on Western Washington University's
campus. The SMATE Facilities, Collections, and Technology Manager
oversees the organization, use, purchasing, recycling, and
retirement of resources, exhibits, materials, and technology in the
14,000 sq. ft. Learning Resource Center and associated classrooms.
The Manager provides efficient, expert, and timely course and
research support to SMATE faculty, staff, and students, including
the configuration and updating of computers and other technologies,
as well as SMATE website updates and management. They also help
coordinate and support events such as teacher and faculty
professional development and student outreach. They interact with
K-12 and informal educators, students, and public visitors to the
Resource Center. Additionally, the Manager acts as the Chief Safety
Officer for SMATE, providing training and advice to faculty, staff,
teaching assistants, and students on the safe handling, storage and
disposal of chemicals and other hazardous materials, as well as
adherence to OSHA and university regulations. Other duties include,
but are not limited to: assisting the Director with program and
project budgets; helping to support and manage grants; developing
content for and managing the SMATE website; supporting and
maintaining systems for lending materials and supplies to K-12
educators for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)
instruction; and hiring and supervision of Graduate Teaching
