Responsibilities include adhering to professional nursing standards, administering medications and treatments, implementation of the residents' plan of care with the team and coordinating care with outside providers. Obtains and administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Documents same according to Center policy and standards of practice. 2. Obtains supplies and prepares equipment to aid physician during treatments and examinations of residents. 3. Observes resident, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor, family (responsible party), and physician of residents change in condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Documents same according to Center policy and standards of practice. 4. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of resident. Notifies parties as above and documents according to Center policy and standards of practice. 5. Provides supervision and directs Nursing Assistants function in compliance with state and federal regulations and Center policies. 6. Administers appropriate disciplinary action for nursing staff non-compliance with state and federal regulations and Center policies and processes. 7. Keeps resident family and physician informed of any changes in resident behavior, medications, or conditions of health. 8. Modifies resident care plan, care directives, Activities of Daily Living (ADL), and Aide flow sheets in conjunction with resident changes in condition. Unit Management 1. Oversees the proper administration of total care to residents. 2. Interprets, implements, and enforces Center policies and procedures to promote quality of care and to assure resident safety. 3. Notifies resident responsible party and physician of changes in resident status, and coordinates care plan revisions as appropriate. 4. Participates as assigned with monthly physician re-cap process. 5. Completes Quality Assurance audits and tasks as assigned. 6. Supervises the CNA staff. 7. Assigns and assists with meal and rest breaks for CNAs. 8. Assists in the orientation and training of new CNAs. 9. Prepares written job performance evaluations which are reviewed by the Director of Nursing Services (DNS). 10. Counsels subordinates and takes disciplinary action, including suspension of employees when necessary. 11. Recommends termination of CNAs to DNS. 12. Is in charge of the unit, and in the absence of administrative personnel, is in charge of the Center. 13. NIGHT SHIFT CHARGE NURSE: Conducts & certifies midnight census walk-through using the Medical Records roster in order to provide accurate data for the Daily Census Activity Report, billing purposes, and room assignment, etc., in compliance with State and Federal Regulations. Other Duties 1. May rotate among various clinical services of the Center. 2. Participate in Center Committees (per assignment or volunteer). 3.
