patient at a time. Summary: Assists in the organization and daily
function of the operating room in accordance with established
Federal, State, and center policies and procedures. Assists the
nurses and physicians in delivering the highest standard of patient

Patient-Focused Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the
following. Other duties may be assigned. Prepare for surgical
procedures by gathering supplies, instruments, and equipment. Set
up an operating room with proper equipment for procedures. Maintain
a sterile environment during the procedure while passing
instruments and other supplies to the surgeon. Clean,
decontaminate, and prepare instruments for sterile processing and
sterilize instruments per manufacturer's directions for use and
surgery center policies. Restock supplies and document supplies
that need reordered. Assist in operating room preparation
performing duties such as: cleaning and disinfecting the room prior
to, between, and after daily surgical procedures. Participates in
audits and studies to ensure quality care is being provided through
assessment and performance improvement. In addition to a modern,

center) Travel: None Qualifications: To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential

Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED. Operating room
experience required. Two (2) years of hospital main operating room
experience desired. Previous experience in Ophthalmology is highly
preferred. Current BLS certification required. Certification as a
surgical technician preferred. Candidates will complete some
on-the-job training, but should already have the required skills,
knowledge and work-related experience. Language Ability: Fluency of
the English language. Excellent oral and written comprehension and
expression. Speech clarity and recognition. Active learning and
listening. Ability to respond to common inquiries and provide
information to patients and colleagues. Good interpersonal skills.
Math Ability: Ability to use basic mathematical methods or formulas
for business related calculations. Ability to calculate percentages
and make estimates. Ability to compile, tabulate, or verify
information or data. Reasoning Ability: Ability to think
critically, problem solve, use judgement and make decisions.
Ability to collect data and establish facts. Ability to use logic.
Ability to analyze data or information and use deductive and
inductive reasoning. Computer Skills: Accounting Applications,
Charting Software, Document Management Software, Microsoft Office
Suite, Email, Calendar and Scheduling Software, Medical Software,
Internet, Data Entry, Inventory Management Applications
Certificates and Licenses: Active Washington Surgical Technologist
Registration Basic Life Support, Current Supervisory
