License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, OCN
preferred Must-Have: Chemotherapy experience is required.
Experience in chemotherapy symptom management is required. Blood
product administration experience is required. Experience with
central lines, both tunneled and non-tunneled ports is required.
Description: The Oncology Registered Nurse will provide care for
patients in an oncology setting. The position requires handling
patients undergoing chemotherapy, many of whom are neutropenic.
Unexpected admissions often occur for neutropenic fevers. The nurse
will be expected to administer chemotherapy and manage related
symptoms. Knowledge of blood product administration is necessary.
Candidates should have experience with central lines and ports. The
work environment may include continuous interdisciplinary support
from various teams. Patient diagnoses primarily include leukemia
and lymphoma, along with other conditions needing medical
intervention. The nurse will display skills in monitoring and
managing side effects of treatment. Effective communication with
patients and families is essential for education and support. This
role includes maintaining high standards of patient care in a
fast-paced environment. Candidates must be open to floating within
the facility as required. Weekend shifts are mandatory, in
accordance with scheduling needs. References in the submittal
process should ideally be supervisory or charge references.
