Job Summary and Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced surgical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for this PRN role. The Physician Assistant (PA-C) will join our well established and cohesive surgical team. We are seeking a PA with previous cardiac and thoracic surgery experience. Duties will include endoscopic vein harvest, cardiac surgery first assist, Robotic thoracic surgery bedside first assist, ICU/PCU/medical-surgical rounds. Practice details: Full spectrum conventional cardiac and thoracic surgery (except VAD, ECMO and transplant) Consistently achieve highest STS quality metrics – multiyear, multiple 3 Star Low PA and surgeon turnover Hospital based – OR, ICU, PCU, surgical units Single hospital practice Traditional sternotomy based cardiac surgeries Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery All lung resection surgeries performed with DaVinci XI robot Robotic foregut and esophagus APP driven service – occasional general surgery resident rotations; no subspecialty specific residents of fellows Compensation Range: $81.00 - $162.00/hour Job Requirements Current WA state license PA (or ability to obtain) 1 year years APP cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred Endoscopic vein harvest highly preferred Open radial harvest – desired, but willing to train Robotic thoracic/cardiac surgery – desired, but willing to train ICU patient management experience – ventilator, drips, etc. CPR/BLS ACLS – (or ability to obtain) - required HEC About Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Our integrated health system has nearly 1,500 hospital beds including Bailey-Boushay House, the first skilled-nursing and outpatient chronic care management program in the United States designed specifically to meet the needs of people with HIV/AIDS; Benaroya Research Institute, internationally recognized for autoimmune disease research; and Virginia Mason Institute, a teaching organization which coaches health care professionals and others around the world in the Virginia Mason Production System, an innovative lean management method for improving quality and safety.
