About the Department The Department of Psychology has 33 permanent full-time faculty. In addition to our undergraduate B.S. psychology major, which places a strong emphasis on research methods and statistics, the Psychology department offers an undergraduate degree in behavioral neuroscience, and master?s programs in experimental psychology, school counseling, and mental health counseling (https://chss.wwu.edu/psychology). The department houses five primary areas of research and teaching expertise ? Developmental, Social, Abnormal, Cognitive, and Neuroscience? as well as the internationally recognized Center for Cross-Cultural Research. About the Position This is an open area position under the umbrella of applied research methodology. Potential domains of focus might include such areas as: community psychology, applied cognitive, cross-cultural or multicultural psychology, aging, health, educational psychology, industrial/organizational, applied developmental, applied social, or applied clinical psychology. Methodological areas of focus might include basic and advanced applied quantitative methods, quasi-experimental design, qualitative methods, program evaluation, community-based participatory methods, or applied measurement. The successful candidate will have a strong, systematic, theory-based program of applied research. The candidate will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate level in their area of expertise, as well as research methods and statistics. The candidate should also be prepared to teach content courses in a master?s level program. Responsibilities also include establishing and maintaining an active research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students, as well as service activities as appropriate.
