We are currently looking for aCook to join our team at Whatcom Community Detox.

Pioneer Human Services is a social enterprise that provides individuals with criminal histories the opportunity to lead healthy, productive lives. For over 50 years we have proudly serviced our clients with professionalism and empathy.Whatcom Community Detox provides a monitored setting for the safe withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs. The detoxification is provided in a sub-acute (non-medical) unit where intensive medical monitoring is not required. In addition to stabilization and safety, the goal of these services is to assess people's mental health and substance use disorder-related needs and help them access the services they need to recover.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
The primary responsibilities of the cook are to prepare meals from scratch following exact recipes and specifications using a variety of cooking methods while following all food safety guidelines and procedures. Other primary responsibilities include filling customer orders to 100% through proper measurements, portion control, product labeling and staging methods. Duties include:

Preparation of meals and entrees following specific recipes, meal plans, menu cycles and portion sizes.
Comply with all safety and sanitation regulations.
Multi-tasking and working on more than one item at a time.
Operating stoves, ovens, slicers, blast chillers and other equipment.
Assemble, package and label products for delivery.
Assembling sack lunches and dating each bag.
Wrap cold food with plastic wrap and label appropriately.
Build and wrap sandwiches for lunch sacks.
Clean, organize and maintain work, storage areas and common areas.
Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels for designated menu cycles.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Must have a high school diploma or GED and possess a valid WA state Food handler's card.
Must be able to communicate clearly in English.

PREFERABLY YOU'LL BRING

Some experience working in a commercial kitchen environment.
Current WA State Drivers License.
