Job Description:
Description The Language Access Specialist, with the leadership
and support of the Agape Director and Agape Food Bank and Social
Services Manager, will work to support guests of Agape Service
Project’s social services with language needs, working for language
justice. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Work with the Agape team to accomplish
the program mission and goals • Build relationships while working
with the farmworker families, fellow staff, youth, and adult
leaders • Work to build a hospitable, dignified, and joy-filled
environment in any space we encounter the farmworker community;
invite volunteers to co-create this environment through modeling
and instruction • Organize and operate the social services of Agape
including Agape Food Bank & mobile food distribution o Mobilize and
manage volunteers to set up, organize, run, and clean up Agape Food
Bank and food distribution o Register and check in households at
Agape Food Bank with client intake system o Interface with food
bank guests at key locations where bilingual staff are needed
(check-in, check-out, parking lot, refrigerators, etc.) • Serve the
Spanish-speaking community with language access Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: • Bilingual English-Spanish is required • Have
leadership experience (prior Agape work experience highly
encouraged) • Have a servant’s heart • Be able to work well with
and lead a wide range of ages, from youth to adults, and peers •
Have a passion for social justice and desire to build community
with local farmworker families • Be able to lift and carry at least
25 pounds LOGISTICS: • Start date: June 16; End date: August 21 •
Tuesdays – Mobile Food Distribution o 3pm-8pm (estimated 5 hours) o
Arrive to Church of the Assumption; Transportation provided from
Assumption • Wednesdays – Food Bank o 7:30am-7:30pm (estimated 12
hours) o Arrive to Church of the Assumption; Transportation
provided from Assumption ? OR arrive to food bank location •
Possible additional days/time: Sundays 4:30-7:45pm; Mondays
3:15-6:30pm • 15-17 hours per week, with the possibility of up to
20 if need arises Agape Language Access Specialist will receive
compensation of $22 per hour. In addition, meals during work hours
are provided. Any offered salary is determined based on internal
equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and
prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
