Whatcom County Planning and Development Services Department
seeks a proven leader for the role of Natural Resources Supervisor.
This important position is responsible for planning and directing
the efforts of highly energized staff while maintaining high level
customer service to citizens and other agencies. The position also
serves as a key member of the PDS Management Team.
Key duties include:
Overseeing the Natural Resources Division of the Planning and
Development Services Department, mentoring staff, ensuring timely,
accurate and complete information on work product, projects and

processes, including implementation of decisions and instructions
resulting from hearings, appeals processes and actions of the

impact review and compliance with related RCWs, WACs and County

selecting and applying appropriate monitoring methodologies.
Responsible for managing and overseeing natural resource
planning issues, including applicable watershed planning and
stormwater implementation efforts.

Requires a Bachelors degree in planning; environmental sciences,
studies or policy; geology; geography; biology; freshwater studies;
hydrology; forestry; land use; public administration; construction
technology, or a related field.
5 years of progressively responsible, related professional
planning experience including 2 years of lead/supervisory
Experience with SEPA, Growth Management Act and Shoreline
Management Act is required.
Experience with presentation software and geographical
information systems is required.
Knowledge of ecological systems similar to Whatcom County is

$6,137 - $8,264 per month
