Position Overview
The Environmental Planner performs technical and administrative support functions for the Architectural Control Committee (ACC), and environmental and natural resource planning functions for the Sudden Valley Community Association (SVCA). Assists with coordination of a range of sustainability and environmental efforts and assists the SVCA in its administration and enforcement of State and Federal laws, County Ordinances, and the SVCA Restrictive Covenants, Bylaws, and Rules & Regulations. Outside of special projects or tasks, duties of the position will be split between administrative and enforcement tasks and planning activities.

The Environmental Planner position is responsible for performing planning work which may include the areas of environmental review, current planning, long-range planning, engineering assistance, and code enforcement. In coordination with the General Manager and the Management Team the Community Planner assists in collaborating with the Strategic Planning Team, Long-Range Planning Committee, and Architectural Control Committees. They are responsible for aiding the General Manager in guiding the Board through the strategic planning process, along with implementing and updating the SVCA Community Plan with the LRPC. Works with developers, property owners, contractors, Whatcom County, and the general public in regard to land use and planning issues.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in public administration, environmental/natural resources planning, urban planning or a closely related field is required
Master's degree in a related field is preferred
Five years of work experience as a professional planner; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
