The Department of Design has a robust and ever-evolving curriculum grounded in the tradition of producing thoughtful, creative, and discerning designers. Our students and faculty are routinely exposed to the latest trends in the design industry, sharing their work at international conferences, and bringing home top design awards for branding, UX, motion, publication, and illustration.
About the Position
The Program Coordinator position serves as the main point of contact for the department, provides programmatic and administrative support for 10-15 permanent and part-time faculty and staff in the Department of Design. The position is under direct supervision of the Administrative Services Manager.Duties include: registration management, schedule building, student advising and outreach, portfolio review preparation and notification, general program and office support, and other duties as assigned.
This is a 10.5 month part-time cyclic position.
Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree and three years of experience working in an office environment.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Desktop programs (Word, Excel, Access, Teams and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated ability to:

    • Maintain Confidentiality
    • Utilize excellent customer services skills when communicating with faculty, staff, students, and other departments on the phone and in person
    • Work effectively, professionally, and collaboratively with an inclusive group of students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds
    • Establish and maintain a friendly, collaborative team environment
    • Communicate professionally and effectively within, and outside of, an organization
    • Utilize excellent English spelling, grammar and proof-reading skills
    • Manage time effectively, multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
    • Effectively follow instructions and office procedures
    • Generate high-quality work with careful attention to detail in an environment with frequent disruptions
    • Work independently with minimal oversight after initial training period (usually 6-12 months)
    • Take initiative and meet deadlines without prompts from supervisors
    • Work proficiently with relational data base systems to access queries, reports, student information and hiring
    • Independently compose, edit, and proofread departmental correspondence, reports, notices, and brochures for print and web using Microsoft Office with a high level of functional expertise
    • Learn new tasks quickly, correct errors, and improve the quality of the work product with each repetition

      • Bachelor's Degree
      • Recent experience with portfolio preparation and outcome notification
      • Recent experience with design in an educational setting
      • Experience with college recruitment
      • Experience working with youth
      • Experience with Banner, Concur, Degree Works, Navigate
      • Experience with academic advising in a higher education system
      • Experience with Drupal or other website management platform
      • Experience with various social media platforms

        Salary -
        The starting salary for this position is from $26,538- $34,632, commensurate with experience.
