rankings.About the DepartmentThe Vice Provost for Undergraduate
Education (VPUE) supports academic programming that serves the
needs of students outside of their majors and the general education
offered by academic departments. This includes, for example, early
start academic programming in the Viking Launch program and
first-year experience academic programs such as the First-year
Interest Group (FIG) seminars. With the support of the Faculty
Director of Academic First-year Programs and collaborating faculty
from other academic departments, the VPUE office supports
curriculum that supports equity and success for new studentsThe

Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education invites applications for
non-tenure-track teaching opportunities for first-year academic and
community-based programs at Western Washington University. These
opportunities include teaching seminar courses in the First-year
Interest Group clusters and a variety of other seminar courses.
Applicants should have a strong interest in strategies for
supporting student success, both in the classroom and in ways
beyond the classroom curriculum, including those based on
community-based and experiential learning approaches. Course topics
cover a range of disciplines; innovative and interdisciplinary
course topic ideas from applicants are encouraged as part of the
application.Required Qualifications+ Graduate degree in field
relevant to area of teaching responsibilities or equivalent work
experience.+ Experience teaching at the college level in the
relevant field of study.+ Demonstrated commitment to effectively
